starting a new challenge, first week of January, etc...
Dear friends,
I hope 2024 has been treating you kindly. I am back again with another newsletter and I am happy to report that I will be writing to you weekly from now on. So far the days have been a blur and not much has changed since the last time I wrote. I have spent most days with family and enjoying everyone's company. I did get lucky enough to get some studying in too!
Today is our first day of 2024 at home and I am happy to be back, though, of course, it's always a joy to be with my in-laws. I've done a thorough shower and my hair smells fresh of shampoo even hours later. Now, after doing the closing shift, I am writing to you.
first week of January recap
Of course, as it usually does, the year was welcomed with a lot of fireworks. We stayed up until maybe 02:00 in the morning so it wasn't difficult at all to sleep in.
After breakfast, we watched some of the New Year's concert on TV. I headed upstairs and planned my studying for a while. Fabian would play a game with his brother, sister, and mother, while his father would be watching sports.
We also all filled out this "friend book" that Fabian's nephew has because he kindly asked us to.
Fabian's sister and her family briefly visited and dropped off Fabian's niece. She's been so stoked about being able to overnight at her grandparents' house all on her own. We would spend the 2nd and 3rd of January with a ball of undying energy hahaha kidding.
On the afternoon of January 3rd, Fabian and I went to meet up with his friends and their partners, however, 1 partner wasn't able to make it. We played games and ate dinner together. It was nice to hang out with people who are about the same age as us and Fabian's friends are always very welcoming. The host friend's partner was also very sweet and friendly.
The 4th of January was a day for games, it was also the day we intended to go home but we decided to spend an extra night there because it was fun hahaha
We played Blokus, Cartographers, and The Crew. All were very fun games to learn, it was funny and interesting to see how everyone strategizes things and it also showed when we were playing the cooperative game. Trying to communicate what plan you want to execute with the limitations of the rules of the game has been super fun and challenging.
And now, on January 5th, we went home after chatting and having coffee. But first, we had to buy some groceries. I am so excited to share that we bought a Dutch oven (a specific type of cookware, for those not familiar) which I've always wanted to have! We also ended up adopting two new plant babies. We also watched the movie "Mona Lisa Smile". It was a very heartwarming movie, I'm glad I finally sat down and watched it.
starting a new challenge
Since the last challenge has ended, I have been considering doing another one. Now that we're home, I think it's time to switch gears and set some goals again. What better way to make sure you get to your goals than with a challenge right? Some of you might've probably heard of the 75 soft challenge. I'm doing a slightly revised version of that!
I'm fairly positive I can get this done most days hahaha
I'm trying to stay positive but we also have a trip coming up next week and some exams at the end of January that would take place in a further city that would be quite taxing. But I don't want to wait until February to start this so from tomorrow (6 January) until the 21st of March, I will be doing my best to accomplish 75 soft!
I will be writing to you guys weekly as mentioned before, while it will not be the main focus of the newsletter I will give updates on the challenge weekly as well.
Hi friends, thanks for reading until the end! Until next week~
